Multiple Identity Providers - Administration Portal
The administration portal has been updated to add support for a login selection page as part of the login flow. With the login selection page, a user can select between logging in by using single-sign-on, or by using an account managed by the lms (standard username and password).
Where you use single-sign-on, support has now been added for multiple different identity providers to be associated with a single administration portal. Where multiple identity providers are required, multiple options can be displayed on the login selection page. This enables, for example, different regional Active Directory instances to be used to authenticate users in a single lms for an organisation.
Similar support is planned for the web based learner portal.
An example of the new login selection page (as displayed in the administration portal) is displayed below.
Please note that this new page is not enabled by default, and existing behaviours/flows are maintained. If you currently use a hybrid authentication strategy, and would like to add this page to your login flow, then please contact the support team who can arrange this for you.
Zoom Integration - OAuth Connection
The lms has for some time supported integration with Zoom to automatically create Zoom meetings associated with an event session. Historically, these integrations have been configured by using a JWT authentication between the lms and the Zoom platform. Zoom have recently added support for using OAuth authentication between the lms and the Zoom platform, and have deprecated the previous approach. In this release we have added support for the new OAuth approach, and will be working with clients who have chosen to configure this integration to arrange to transition to OAuth over the coming months, and before Zoom retire the JWT approach.
Update to Discussion Forums
Discussion forums have been updated to Discourse 3.0, a new major release, including many significant changes such as integrated chat and a new sidebar. A full list of new features and bug fixes (provided by the Discourse project contributors) can be found here (please note we have no control over the content of this page).
This release includes some changes to some plugins, which might affect your forum:
- The Sitemap plugin has been moved into core, so although you will not see it as a separate plugin any longer, you will still be able to leverage its full functionality.
- The Topic List Previews plugin has been deprecated.
- The Quick Messages plugin has been deprecated. Using the Chat feature is a good replacement.
- The Question Answer plugin has been deprecated. It is being replaced with the Post Voting plugin which has similar functionality.
