Here is a summary of this LMS release.
Reporting enhancements
The Reports | Active reports page has been enhanced. A delete option is now available to enable admins and members of the Reporters role to remove old reports from the system. Filters have also been added based on from/to date ranges and report types, making it much easier to find the report you’re after. The report list view has also been extended to include more details such as the activities, users and groups over which a given report has been run. This information is presented in summary form in the list view. For full details, you can now click an active report. The resulting pop-up dialog box lists all of the report’s parameters. We have also ensured that all printable report output now always includes a title.
Additional options have been added to the email Reminder feature
The dropdown that enables the admin to specify the frequency with which reminder emails should be sent to people who have not yet completed content (as they approach the configured “must complete by” date), has been extended to include 2 months, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year options; in addition to the previous set.
Bulk processing for group removal
You can now use the CSV user import process to remove users from groups on mass.
My Learning and Catalogue view enhancements in the learner portal
We have extended the number of items that can be viewed in the My Learning and Catalogue views within the web learner portal.
Replacing file based content
The constraints around the replace function for arbitrary file content have been relaxed. Previously, admins could only replace files with other files of the same type. Now, you can replace for example a Word document with a PDF document.
Pass scores are now supported for Experience API (xAPI) courses
SCORM content has the notion of a “mastery” score. When a mastery score is configured within a course’s manifest file (or on the LMS), the LMS will automatically change a “completed” status to “passed” or “failed” by comparing the logged score with the mastery score. We have extended this concept to also apply to Experience API content. While xAPI content can also send explicit “passed” and “failed” statements (in addition to “completed” statements), by allowing the LMS admin to define a pass score within the catalogue for xAPI content, they are no longer reliant on the xAPI content being authored in a particular way to support “passed” and “failed”.
LRS connectivity warning
The learner portal now warns users if it is unable to communicate with the Learning Record Store (LRS). Without connectivity to the LRS, course scores and completion data cannot be tracked. This might happen for example if an organisation has not added the LRS address to their internal network firewall’s whitelist. By warning users in advance of them taking courses (and failing to have their results recorded), any such network configuration issue is immediately brought to the user’s/admin’s attention. A full set of network whitelist requirements is available on the Help Desk here.
Admin only user profile fields
Selected custom user profile fields can be now be configured as admin only. Such user profile fields are available for admin use only and will not appear to end users; either on self-registration forms or my account / profile forms.
General
Various bug fixes, most notably in the area of curricula scoring but in other areas too.
