Certification owner(s) are configured on a per certification basis, and can be a single user, a group of users, or any combination of users and groups. The system will automatically assign the certification owner when a certification is added to the system. By default, the certification owner is the user who adds the certification to the system.
Certification owners can be changed by either:
- A Certification administrator, who is already included as an owner for the certification.
- A Global administrator, regardless of if they are included as an owner for the certification.
If the user is a Global administrator, the permissions granted to the user are not affected by the users and groups listed as the owners for the certification. Assigning a Global administrator as the certification owner, is functionally equivalent to listing no certification owner, but might still be useful as additional metadata for your business purposes.
If the user is a Certification administrator, the permissions granted to the user are impacted by the users and groups listed as the owners for the certification. Assigning a Certification administrator as the owner grants additional permissions to that Certification administrator for that certification, but does not impact global administrators. For more information on the permissions granted to a Certification administrator see Explained: The Certification administrator role article.
