How To: Configure certification reminders

To configure simple reminders

Where a certification has an expiry date specified and a renewal period configured, the lms will by default, automatically send a single reminder to the learner, at the start of the renewal period.

1. Log in to your Administration portal, as a Global administrator or an admin with the Certification administrator role.
2. On the NAVIGATION pane, click Certifications.
3. On the Results page, click the certification to be configured.

INFO: You can use the Search option to find the certification that you've added.

4. On the Advanced reminders page, in the NOTIFICATIONS panel, select:
   • Send a notification to the learner at the start of their certification renewal period, if you want a simple reminder to be sent at the start of the renewal period, or
   • Do not send reminders at the start of the renewal period, if you do not want a simple reminder to be sent at the start of the renewal period.

To configure advanced reminders

Where a certification has an expiry date specified, you can specify Advanced reminders to be sent.

1. Log in to your Administration portal, as a Global administrator or an admin with the Certification administrator role.
2. On the NAVIGATION pane, click Certifications.
3. On the Results page, click the certification to be configured.

INFO: You can use the Search option to find the certification that you've added.

6. On the Advanced reminders page, in the NOTIFICATIONS panel, select:
   • Use advanced reminders to configure how notifications are sent, if you want advanced reminders to be sent, or
   • Do not send reminders at the start of the renewal period, if you do not want a simple reminder to be sent at the start of the renewal period.
7. Where advance reminders are configured, you can select to enable any of the following options:
   • Send gentle reminders. Gentle reminders will be sent using the configured start date and repeat interval.
   • Send firm reminders. Firm reminders will be send using the configured start date and repeat interval.
   • Send severe reminders. Gentle reminders will be send using the configured start date and repeat interval.

          Firm reminders use the the Certificate - firm expiration reminder email template.

          Severe reminders use the the Certificate - severe expiration reminder email template.

5. For each chosen level of reminder, specify the following parameters:
   • START SENDING PRIOR TO EXPIRY. The period prior to expiry the reminders should start being sent. This can be configured as any number of days, weeks, months or years.
   • REPEAT INTERVAL. The time period between each reminder being sent. This can be configured as any number of days, weeks, months or years.

INFO: Each level of reminder supersedes the previous level of reminder, i.e. firm reminders supersede gentle reminders and severe reminders supersede firm reminders. You must chose appropriate start dates and repeat intervals to ensure that reminders are sent appropriately.

6. Select the edit button associated with each level of reminder, to edit the corresponding item level email template.
