Civica Learning tracks all user activity by using an xAPI Learning Record Store (LRS). The LRS stores an xAPI activity statement for each activity that the user performs on the system, for example, logging in, viewing a PDF document, playing a video, starting a course, resuming a course, answering a question in an assessment or completing a course.
By using the Reports | Activity stream page (shown below) within the Civica Administration portal, global administrators can view activity statements, as they are generated by users. This enables you to monitor system usage and to investigate content completion or content access issues.
The Activity stream page enables you to filter the xAPI statements by:
- The statement type (the xAPI verb), for example, Answered, Completed, Passed, and others.
- The user generating the statements.
- The content item the users are accessing.
The statements listed on the page (based on the applied filters), are displayed with the name of the user, the statement type and the time the statement was logged.
Note that the page automatically updates with any new statements every 15 seconds, but you can also click Refresh at any time to update the view.
XAPI Statements
A typical statement, as displayed by clicking on the item in the Administration portal is shown below. Statements are represented using a JSON data format.
